CAMP HOPE

The housing crisis in the United States produces ever more homeless people. Camp Hope is a tent city that sprung up in Ontario, California

At times it had up to 600 residents until the San Bernadino County ruled that only people from the region could stay, now 150 to 200 people call the wild tent camp their ‘home’. Numerous churches and other organizations provide food and some clothing. Food does not seem to be an issue here, housing, jobs, security and the lack of medical assistance are very serious problems. There is one makeshift shower. Ontario is in the process of building its own new Camp in the same location, with new tents, showers and sanitary facilities. (Text by Peter Hossli www.hossli.com)
